Yesterday in Y3KT, we were incredibly lucky. We spent our afternoon meeting an American author via Zoom. It was 8.30am in the morning for him because he lives in Phillidelphia! He spent the session telling us all about what inspired him to become a children’s author, talking us through the process of publishing a book, reading us part of his brand new book ‘Fred Gets Dressed’ and showing us how he creates the illustrations for his own and other author’s stories.
Today we looked at key aspects of human geography such as types of settlement and land use. After creating our own settlements in class, we went outside to see what we could create in the school grounds. We had some very creative results!
Today we observed which fruits the snails preferred to eat. The children decided that the snails enjoyed the apples and grapes the most. We released them safely back into the school grounds afterwards.
This week we will be learning about position and direction in maths. Use the knowledge organiser below to support you with your learning.
Last week the children in year 1 enjoyed another afternoon in the forest. This time creating a house using the old fir tree. The children gathered massive branches of tree and we all worked together to position them over the log table and chairs. Once it was made, we had the best time decorating the house with flowers, making potato pine -cone soup, wearing animal masks and being together, all in the sunshine!
This week we will be looking position and direction.
