We have had a fantastic pyjamarama day in the Zebra class. This morning we read ‘Not a Stick’ by Antoinette Portis then used our imagination to make a stick into something else. We had a great time in the forest reading stories in the story tents and having a lovely story with Mrs Nicholson whilst we drank some delicious hot chocolate. This afternoon we read ‘Bloom’ by Anne Booth. We then thought of something that makes us feel happy and bloom. We decorated a plant pot and planted a seed to take home.
Year 2M had a fabulous pyjamarama day. Take a look at some of the activities they got up to…
5M have absolutely loved Pyjamarama Day. They have spent the day reading lots of different books and completing activities linked to them. 5M have especially enjoyed spending time in the forest, drinking hot chocolate and listening to our class book (Black Powder) being read to them.
What a fun day we have had in the Giraffes. We started the morning with toast and juice and then went up to the forest to read ‘Not a Stick’ by Antoinette Portis. The children found a stick and used their imagination to make it into something different.

Today 4Ma finished off their model village DT project. To design the village we looked at key aspects of human geography such as types of settlement and land use. The children show fantastic team work and creativity.
Today Year 1 were tree explorers in Science!
We went looking around Bowker Vale’s grounds and were amazed by what we found!
Year 1 identified them by the colour and shape of the trees leaves and they were fantastic at matching what they thought it could be!
We discovered that it is a Beech tree outside the Year 1 classroom. We also found Hawthorn, Ash, Sycamore, Spruce, Cherry Blossom, Rowan, red Sycamore and Cedar trees!
We then continued to sort trees that are evergreen and deciduous and draw our favourites.
What Super Scientist Year 1 are!
During the Summer term we will be learning about plants. We will be observing and describing how seeds and bulbs grow into mature plants. In addition, we will be finding out and describing how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy. You can help your child at home by exploring the key vocabularly we will be using.
