Home Learning

On Monday 23rd March we started a new chapter at Bowker Vale, with most of our children learning from home.

We are only open for those children of key workers who have no choice but to use our school as childcare because their work is crucial to the COVID 19 response. We have been really lucky at BV with families who have respected this offer and realise if they can keep their children at home then this is the best and safest thing to do.

Our Home Learning Plan

Here is our Home Learning agreement to give families an idea of what school will be providing during the closure period, which begins from Monday 23rd March for an unknown period of time. All ‘Home Learning’ packs and resources will be provided through our School Blog on each class page. If families need paper copies of the home learning timetable, please just ring school to request these.

We have suggested a timetable for each day so that families will have a guide for how to structure the day. The guide will also suggest time spent on getting active and supporting children’s well-being.

Provide a weekly timetable and some suggested resources on our blog Check the learning on the blog that is available at least each week and encourage your children to complete. Ask for a printed timetable if needed.
Communicate by the blog with children every week – to check-in and see how they are getting on.   Ensure that your child engages in home learning every day.
Be available via email at admin@bowkervale.manchester.sch.uk or through the blog messages. Send you regular updates about re-opening.   Encourage your child to follow the recommended guidelines on the timetable, PLUS regular reading.
Provide a welfare call for any families that may need additional support.   Monitor your child whilst online.  Make sure that they don’t spend too much time online or on devices.

Thank you to you all for your understanding. We hope that, with everyone following the government guidelines, we will be able to re-open school as soon as possible.

Look after yourselves,

Mrs Jacques x
