We all had a great time!
Attendance
This week we had our termly Attendance Celebration Assembly. 191 children joined the Bronze Attendance Club which means their attendance was 98% or higher – an amazing achievement!
Next term there is another chance to join the Bronze Attendance Club and for these 191 children there is a chance to join the Silver Attendance Club.

Congratulations to the Bowker Vale Team for achieving the Basic Skills Quality Mark (renewal) with flying colours again! This means we are recognised by an external assessor as providing the very best quality education in reading, writing and maths (the basic skills). Teachers, pupils, parents and governors all came together to share the excellent practice here at Bowker Vale. Well done everyone!
It’s been a really busy week, with our very popular breakfast/afternoon tea with Father Christmas sessions, our Christmas Fair and lots of singing throughout the week!
We’ve joined in Save The Children’s Christmas Jumper Day today (and ate our Christmas Dinner in them!) and raised much needed funds for the charity.
Next week, our last week of term, brings our very special EYFS Nativity – families are welcome to come and watch on Tuesday 17th at 1.30pm or Wednesday 18th at 9.00 am. We don’t charge for the performance but we will be selling raffle tickets, so please bring some change!
Our choir will also be performing next week at school and also at Tarnside House, our local supported housing for older people residence.
There won’t be a News Blog next week, so please be reminded we finish at 1.30pm on the 20th December.
Wishing all of our families a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful 2020.

Christmas Jumper Day
We had a fun day today, wearing our Christmas Jumpers and raising money for Save The Children.
The staff have all decided to wish everyone a happy Christmas, but instead of sending cards, donate their money to the charity. Some of our families have joined in too – thank you to everyone who has donated!
Here are a few of the festive jumpers below!
Even Buddy joined in!
Co-op Band and Choir
Key stage two were wowed this afternoon when the Co-operative Academy of Manchester’s band and choir came to perform for us. If we weren’t already in the Christmas spirit, we certainly are now.
Thank you to the Co-operative for your amazing performance.
Mock Election
We split into groups to learn about the 5 main political parties before registering to vote and casting our ballots. 5B voted for Labour with 20 votes to the second placed Green Party with 6 votes.
Adults – remember to vote tomorrow!

Meet the Cast
Years four, five and six visited St Andrew’s Church this morning for a spectacular retelling of the Christmas story. Everyone listened well and enjoyed joining in with the singing. Each child, who visited, received a ‘Meet the Cast’ book.
Do you know about Manchester’s involvement in WW1?
This afternoon, year six have found out about how people from Manchester were involved in World War One.
Year six – What did you learn?
