School Council in the community!

The school council have been busy looking for opportunities to help out in the local community and to try and make a difference. This week they met with Dot Keller, chairman of the Friends of Blackley forest. Dot and her group of dedicated volunteers help create a community forest that is rich in wildlife and manage the woodland to the highest standard. The Friends group help by applying for grants, organising litter cleanups, painting railings and making birdboxes. Our vision is for the school council to take charge of a birdkeep in the forest which has become overgrown and unused. Our job will be to take charge of the bird keep, maintain it and hopefully add a plaque as recognition of our work. Watch this space!
