Buddy’s Birthday Party

The SSC class had a fantastic time celebrating Buddy’s first birthday! We began the birthday celebrations by cooking special treats for Buddy to eat at his party. All the children really enjoyed making something special for Buddy who’s a much loved visitor to the class and companion on ‘The Daily Mile’. The SSC class were responsible for choosing the presents Buddy might enjoy playing with and worked together to set up the classroom so that it was ready for the party. Everybody had a fantastic time, especially Buddy!

5H took Buddy for a Birthday trot.

Buddy loved all of the attention as he ambled around the track. He even managed two laps before plopping down!

Buddy’s Birthday!

Thank you to everyone for making Buddy’s first birthday so enjoyable! He really loved every minute of the day, especially Mr Myatt’s song and his party in the SSC!

Other moments he enjoyed were – his obstacle course in EYFS, being sung to by the KS1 classes and being in assembly with KS2.

Thank you to all those who made cards and gave him gifts – Buddy loves you all!

Here are some photos showing highlights of his day!

4M begin living things and their habitats

When we begin a new element of science, the children would usually jot down what they already know about the topic and what they would like to know.  This term we’ve decided to do things differently.  First we looked at pictures of living and non-living things and the children discussed all the differences and similarities between them.  We then went on a hunt around the school grounds to find living things in their habitats.  Back in class, we compared a gummy worm to a real worm and rounded off the day by learning the seven processes of all living things.  It’s been a fun start to science!

Rhubarb Crumble

Nursery children washed & carefully chopped up the rhubarb & then added sugar. The children used the tips of their fingers to rub together the flour & butter & then some oats.  They enjoyed sprinkling the crumble mixture over the rhubarb before it was popped in the oven. We poured warm custard over the rhubarb crumble & all the children had a taste for their afternoon snack.

Buddy Training with 3P

3P joined in with some Buddy training today. Shelley, our dog trainer showed the group how to walk a dog safely on a lead and how to get the dog to sit. Shelley brought Theo, her own very well trained dog to demonstrate and the children had a go with Buddy too.

Theo and Buddy both showed off a few tricks too! Can the children from 3P who were there add in the comments what you learned or what your favourite part was?

(Thanks to Luke for the photos!)
